Coopers Rock

Coopers Rock

This magnificent overlook at Coopers Rock State Forest near Morgantown, WV, was named after an outlaw who hid from authorities in the area for many years. A cooper by trade, he continued making barrels at his new mountain hideout, selling them to people in nearby communities. These rock cliffs overlook the Cheat River Gorge as it winds through the mountains in Monongalia County.
