Amongst ourselves we refer to this region of the Dolly Sods Wilderness of West Virginia as “The Boneyard.“ In contrast to the vibrant colors of the blueberry bushes, cinnamon fern and cranberries that sparkle the area during fall, this family of like trees display unique remnants of once proud limbs and towering statures now with bleached age.
